Geometric Pygmy Hawkfish description
Just as the name suggests, they actually resemble Hawkfish more than Anthias. They are marked with shapes of different colors without a regular pattern including orange and white, and they have very beautiful green eyes.
They possess an elongated body with a high third dorsal spine which is accompanied by a banner-like flap. They are rare fish, and difficult to get, native to the zones of Cebu.
The Geometric Pygmy Hawkfish is wild and dwells in the reef within the rubble zones and often seen within plate corals.
Geometric Pygmy Hawkfish in the ideal aquarium
Setting up the ideal aquarium for Geometric Pygmy Hawkfish would require a saltwater tank of at least 20 gallons/75.7 litres with plenty of hiding places, and live rocks for feeding.
Howbeit they are peaceful species, they often become aggressive towards the Blennies and Gobies which are similar bottom dwellers.
Geometric Pygmy Hawkfish feeding
The Geometric Pygmy Hawkfish natural foods are Zooplankton. They can also be offered a variety of meaty foods. Vitamin enriched brine shrimp, mysis shrimp and small pieces of shrimp and fish should also be fed to them.
