Evansi Anthias description

Otherwise known as the Yellowtail Goldie or Evan’s Anthias, the Evansi Anthias is predominantly violet and possesses flanks that are sprinkled with yellow dots and complemented with an orange line that laterally runs from the nose to the pectoral fin.

As with other Anthias species, the Evansi Anthias are hermaphrodites with the largest and dominant female of the group often morphing into a male in the absence of other males.

Evansi Anthias in the ideal aquarium

Evansi Anthias - Pseudanthias evansi

Setting up the best aquarium home for the Evansi Anthias would require a well filtered aquarium with a minimum of 75 gallons / 284 litres to house single Evansi Anthias.

However, if they should be housed in a group of one male with few females, a minimum of 125 gallons / 473 litres tank or larger will just be perfect.

As peaceful species, they are compatible tank mates with similar sized and peaceful species, including species of the same Anthias variety.

Evansi Anthias feeding

Evansi Anthias are carnivores with high planktivorous appetite.

They can be fed with meaty foods including live and frozen mysis shrimp, enriched frozen brine shrimp. An attached refugium that ensures the cultivation of copepods and amphipods will also provide these species with nutritious live foods.

With time they will accept high-quality flaked foods, but should be offered in small quantities throughout the day.
